Iran Threatens Response to Trump Bombing Remark

Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States following President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb the country should Tehran refuse to reach a nuclear agreement. During his Eid al-Fitr sermon, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that any act of aggression from the U.S. or Israel would provoke a forceful retaliation. “They threaten to act maliciously, but if any act of aggression comes from them—the Americans and the Zionist regime—they will undoubtedly receive a strong counterattack,” Khamenei said. “The Iranian nation will respond to the conspirators as it has until today.”

Khamenei also condemned Israel’s alleged “routine assassination of figures,” claiming that such actions are enabled by the United States and its Western allies. His remarks underscored Iran’s position that U.S. foreign policy, particularly in relation to its support for Israel, is deeply antagonistic toward Iran’s sovereignty and stability.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had warned that Iran could face bombing “the likes of which they have never seen before” if it failed to comply with Washington’s demand for a renewed nuclear deal. The statement has fueled tensions between the two long-standing geopolitical adversaries.

Responding to Trump’s remarks, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), labeling the U.S. threat as a blatant violation of international norms. “An open threat of bombing by a Head of State against Iran is a shocking affront to the very essence of International Peace and Security,” he wrote. “It violates the United Nations Charter and betrays the Safeguards under the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency]. Violence breeds violence, peace begets peace.”

Baghaei’s statement emphasized Iran’s commitment to international law while warning of the consequences of any military escalation. The comments from both Iran’s spiritual leadership and its diplomatic corps reflect a unified front in rejecting U.S. threats and reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defense.

As rhetoric intensifies, concerns are growing about potential military confrontation in the region. Observers note that the latest exchange adds to a longstanding pattern of hostility that could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts and regional stability. The coming days may prove crucial as the international community watches to see whether the confrontation escalates or diplomacy prevails.
