Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that Ukraine has accepted the United States' proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire. In a video message posted on X, Zelensky emphasized Kyiv's commitment to peace and urged international actors to respond to the situation.

“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin is refusing. We are awaiting a response from the United States — none has come so far, and we also expect a response from all in Europe and around the world who truly want peace,” Zelensky stated.

The Ukrainian leader accused Putin of deliberately avoiding a resolution to the conflict, claiming the Russian president wants to keep the option open to reignite the war with greater force. Zelensky portrayed this as a major obstacle to establishing long-term peace and stability in the region.

He further condemned Russia’s latest missile strikes, some of which originated from the Black Sea. These attacks, he said, demonstrated Moscow’s unwillingness to de-escalate and underscored the importance of implementing a true ceasefire. Zelensky added that maritime security was essential, saying, “Ceasefire at sea is not just about free navigation — it’s about overall security and bringing peace closer.”

The Ukrainian government’s position reflects a desire to move forward with peace negotiations and an appeal to the global community to press Russia to halt its aggression. Zelensky’s remarks highlighted a growing impatience with the lack of international pressure and urged swift, unified action from democratic allies around the world.
