Iran: Russia Key in US Nuclear Talks
Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated on Tuesday that Russia will play an important role in the country’s ongoing nuclear negotiations with the United States. The comments underscore the deepening strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in the area of nuclear energy.
"Our cooperation with Russia in the nuclear energy sector ensures Moscow will have a significant influence in the talks with Washington," Mohajerani noted. The latest remarks come as indirect negotiations between Iran and the US resumed last week, with two more rounds planned for the current week.
The discussions aim to revive or reshape a potential nuclear agreement that has seen fluctuating momentum in recent years. While the parties are not engaging directly, intermediaries are facilitating dialogue between the two nations in an effort to reach common ground.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reiterated its readiness to confront any threats that may emerge during this critical diplomatic process. "We are fully prepared to respond to any potential threat," an IRGC spokesperson stated, reaffirming the organization's backing of the Iranian negotiation team.
The statement from the IRGC adds a layer of security emphasis to the sensitive negotiations, highlighting both Iran’s commitment to the process and its stance on national defense. The coordination between Iran’s diplomatic and military sectors appears aligned in support of reaching a favorable outcome in the talks.
As further sessions are expected this week, the involvement of Russia could prove pivotal in bridging divides and reinforcing Iran’s strategic positions. Observers are closely watching the developments, with global implications tied to the future of nuclear diplomacy in the region.
