Zelensky: Russia Swayed White House Opinions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has voiced serious concerns over Russian disinformation allegedly influencing key figures within the White House. Zelensky said he believes Moscow successfully swayed the opinion of some U.S. officials by promoting false narratives that contradicted American intelligence reports.

“I believe Russia has managed to influence some people on the White House team through information,” Zelensky stated. He suggested that the intent was to portray Ukraine as unwilling to end the ongoing war, implying that Western powers should apply pressure on Kyiv.

Zelensky emphasized a concerning trend in which U.S. officials have started “taking Putin at his word,” even when those statements conflict with their own country’s intelligence assessments. This pattern, according to the Ukrainian leader, plays directly into Russia’s broader strategy of undermining Western support for Ukraine.

He pointed specifically to claims made by Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump, who alleged that thousands of Ukrainian troops in the city of Kursk had been surrounded by Russian forces. “That was a lie,” Zelensky said, denouncing the assertion as part of the disinformation campaign.

The remarks underscore growing tensions not only between Ukraine and Russia but also highlight the complicated dynamics between Kyiv and Washington amid an ongoing war that hinges heavily on international support and trust. Zelensky’s comments aim to draw attention to the necessity of vigilance against misinformation, even at the highest levels of global leadership.
