US Judge Arrested for Immigration Obstruction
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested by the FBI on Friday on charges of obstructing a federal immigration operation. The arrest follows allegations that Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents attempting to apprehend undocumented immigrant Eduardo Flores Ruiz inside her courthouse.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest in a statement posted on X, stating, "Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from Eduardo Flores Ruiz." Patel added that federal agents later apprehended Ruiz after a brief foot pursuit outside the courthouse.
Patel emphasized that the judge’s actions not only hindered law enforcement efforts but also heightened risks to public safety. "Thankfully our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public," Patel wrote.
The incident has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the intersection of judicial conduct and federal immigration enforcement, as legal experts and public officials await further developments in the case.
