Trump Threatens Iran over Nuclear Deal

United States President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran on Sunday, stating that if Tehran fails to agree to a nuclear deal, it will face bombing “the likes of which they have never seen before.” The threat marks a significant escalation in rhetoric amid heightened tensions between the two countries.

Trump's comments follow earlier warnings that Iran would face “dire consequences” if Houthi rebels, supported by Tehran, continue their attacks in the Red Sea region. The President’s statements indicate increasing pressure on Iran to return to the negotiating table and agree to a nuclear deal on terms favorable to Washington.

Earlier the same day, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian dismissed the possibility of direct negotiations with the United States, citing a “breach of promises” in earlier diplomatic efforts. This likely references the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal. Nevertheless, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran remains open to indirect negotiations.

Despite the rejection of direct talks, Trump said that U.S. and Iranian officials are “talking,” although he provided no additional information about the nature or progress of these communications. This suggests that indirect diplomatic engagement may still be underway behind the scenes.

The escalating tensions have raised international concerns about regional stability and the risk of military conflict. Trump's latest remarks reflect a hardened U.S. position, linking Iran’s willingness to negotiate directly to the avoidance of military action.

As of now, no formal agreement or negotiation timeline has been announced. Both sides appear to be engaging in a public war of words while potentially exploring diplomatic solutions behind closed doors.
