Trump, Milbank Ink $100M Legal Deal

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that his administration has partnered with international law firm Milbank LLP in a landmark agreement to provide at least $100 million in pro bono legal services. The initiative is designed to expand legal access and support a range of public service efforts aligned with the administration’s policy priorities.

The agreement outlines Milbank’s commitment to offering legal aid for veterans, public servants such as law enforcement, members of the military, and first responders. Additional focus areas include ensuring fairness in the justice system and combating antisemitism across the country.

“After a constructive dialogue with President Trump’s Administration, Milbank is pleased that we are so quickly able to find common ground. Our agreement is consistent with Milbank's core values,” said Milbank Chairman Scott Edelman.

As part of the arrangement, Milbank also agreed not to engage in what the administration referred to as “illegal DEI discrimination and preferences,” underscoring a shared stance on merit-based practices within the legal profession.

This new collaboration follows a similar deal made earlier this week with law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, further reflecting the administration’s push to mobilize private sector legal resources for public benefit.

The Trump administration has emphasized that these partnerships aim to create more equitable access to legal assistance and reinforce values of service and justice. The deals mark a unique moment of cooperation between the federal government and major law firms in advancing bipartisan legal initiatives.

With this latest $100 million pledge from Milbank, observers note a growing trend in the legal industry to align with national priorities while expanding their reach through pro bono efforts. The impact of these partnerships will be closely monitored as implementation begins.
