Taiwan has condemned United States President Donald Trump's newly announced 32% tariff on Taiwanese imports, describing the measure as “strongly unreasonable.” In a formal statement issued Thursday, the Taiwanese administration revealed it plans to file an official complaint with US authorities, citing severe concerns over the legitimacy and impact of the tariff policy.

The 32% levy, part of Trump’s broader “reciprocal tariffs” initiative, is scheduled to take effect on April 9 and targets numerous American trade partners. Trump has justified the move as necessary to correct what he terms the “injustices of global trade.”

However, Taiwanese officials argue that the tariff undermines the long-standing economic relationship between the two nations.
