Iran Embraces Talks, Warns U.S.

Iran has announced that it is giving diplomacy “a genuine chance” as it prepares for high-stakes discussions with the United States. In a message posted on X, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that while Tehran remains open to dialogue, it does so with “candid vigilance.”

“The United States should value this decision formed despite its prevailing confrontational hoopla. We do not prejudge … We do not predict,” Baqaei wrote, highlighting a cautious yet deliberate approach to the upcoming diplomatic engagement.

Tehran’s focus will be on assessing the U.S. government’s true “intent & resolve” during the planned meeting on Saturday. The outcome of that evaluation will guide Iran’s next moves, according to the statement. The spokesperson’s tone underscored Iran’s skepticism about past American behavior, but also reflected a willingness to explore peaceful solutions.

However, tensions remain high. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that military action remains on the table if the diplomatic track fails. His warning followed Tehran’s indication that it may move enriched nuclear material to “undisclosed locations” if threats from the United States persist.

The statements from both sides set the stage for a tense but pivotal encounter that could determine the direction of U.S.–Iran relations. While Iran is offering an opportunity for peaceful negotiation, it has also made clear that continued threats or hostile actions could prompt a shift in posture, potentially escalating the situation further.

As the Saturday meeting approaches, the international community watches closely. President Trump’s firm stance and Iran’s cautious engagement present both risk and opportunity. The outcome of these talks may mark a turning point in one of the region’s most delicate geopolitical dynamics.
