ICE Cracks Down on Venezuelan Gang in Major Sweep

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested 394 members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TDA) since President Donald Trump took office, according to Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons. Speaking in Orlando, Florida, Lyons confirmed that over the past 48 hours alone, 68 TDA members were taken into custody across the country, labeling them as 'terrorists in the United States.'

Lyons emphasized that ICE, alongside federal and local law enforcement agencies, is working aggressively to dismantle the TDA presence on American soil. ‘Our goal is to eradicate TDA from the United States,’ he stated during a press conference, highlighting the coordinated national efforts targeting the violent criminal organization.

Tren de Aragua, originating from Venezuela, has gained notoriety for its involvement in human trafficking, extortion, and drug smuggling across Latin America and into the United States. ICE’s intensified actions reflect a broader crackdown on transnational criminal networks perceived as threats to national security and public safety.

Just last week, President Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act to fast-track the deportation of foreign nationals tied to TDA, enabling authorities to swiftly remove individuals associated with what officials describe as a violent gang with terrorist-like activities. The administration views the gang’s expansion as a pressing issue requiring immediate federal intervention.

These recent developments underscore the administration’s hardline stance on immigration and organized crime. The ongoing operations are part of a wider strategy to restore law and order, protect communities, and prevent further infiltration of TDA operatives into the U.S. As enforcement efforts continue, ICE remains committed to working with partners nationwide to ensure that those who pose a threat are swiftly apprehended and removed.
