United States President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order targeting states and cities that do not fully cooperate with federal immigration authorities. The directive requires the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to identify "sanctuary jurisdictions" within 30 days.

Jurisdictions that fail to modify their policies and laws could face reductions in federal funding and potential legal action. Trump’s move follows previous efforts to crack down on sanctuary cities, which a federal judge in California had earlier blocked.
