Trump Hints at Higher Tariffs for Norway

United States President Donald Trump indicated on Thursday that Norway could end up "paying more" amid discussions over a proposed 15% US tariff targeting the Nordic nation. Addressing reporters at the Oval Office, Trump commented, "Well, they have a big fund, $2 trillion, and they don't have any debt. So, I think they will be probably willing to pay us more than that," he joked.

Despite the remark, Trump expressed confidence in maintaining positive trade relations with Norway. He emphasized that he does not foresee any friction arising between the two countries as a result of the ongoing tariff considerations.

Trump’s comments highlight a lighthearted yet strategic approach toward the tariff negotiations, reaffirming the strength of US-Norwegian ties even amid evolving trade discussions.
