Trump Denies China War Plan Leak
U.S. President Donald Trump firmly denied a report claiming that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk was briefed on a U.S. military plan involving a hypothetical war with China. Responding to questions at the Oval Office on Friday, Trump dismissed the story, originally published by The New York Times, as entirely false.
“Because I don’t want to show it to anybody,” Trump said when asked whether the report was accurate. He added, “I don’t want anybody seeing potential war with China... we don’t wanna have a potential war with China... but I can tell you if we did, we’re very well equipped to handle it.” He emphasized that he would “certainly” not show such sensitive material to a businessman, referring to Musk. “That’s a fake story,” he concluded.
The report had claimed Musk was to be presented with a 20- to 30-page document outlining a theoretical conflict scenario with China. Trump categorically denied this, reiterating that no one outside the appropriate defense channels would have access to such plans.
Despite the controversy, Trump praised Musk’s contributions to U.S. operations, stating that the entrepreneur “is paying a big price for helping us cut costs” and that he is “doing a great job.” The president’s remarks appear to distance Musk from any suggestion of impropriety while reaffirming his role in supporting government efficiency.
Trump’s statements arrive amid ongoing tensions between the U.S. and China, and growing scrutiny over the intersection of private tech figures and national security. As speculation mounts, the administration remains firm in denying any unauthorized disclosures or civilian briefings on classified military strategy.
