“At a high level, we want to reduce the spending by eliminating waste and reduce the spending by 15%. The government is not efficient and there is a lot of waste and fraud,” Musk said.

According to Musk, the department’s broader goal includes cutting the national deficit by $1 trillion. This would involve bringing total federal spending down from $7 trillion to $6 trillion.
