Musk Backs Judge, Defends Government Reforms

Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), defended recent administrative reforms, endorsed a judicial candidate, and discussed the impact of his government role on his private businesses. Musk reaffirmed that changes made under DOGE—such as new payment tracking standards in the U.S. Treasury system—are 'likely to remain in place' and are critical to improving federal accountability.

"These are very basic things that are likely to remain in place," Musk explained, citing new requirements that government payments include codes linked to Congressional appropriations, clear explanations, and contact information. He asserted that these updates will make it possible for the federal government to pass an audit. "We made those changes to the system—they weren’t there before," he said.

On the political front, Musk made a strong appeal to Wisconsin voters, urging them to support Circuit Court Judge Brad Schimel in the upcoming Supreme Court election. He argued that Democrats are attempting to gerrymander Wisconsin to eliminate two Republican-held House seats. "That’s what this whole Supreme Court Justice case is about," Musk said, warning that failure to mobilize could cost Republicans the House and jeopardize ongoing reforms.

When asked about a potential conflict of interest between his government role and the government contracts held by SpaceX and Starlink, Musk argued that holding office is actually a disadvantage for him. "If I wasn’t in the government, I could lobby and push for things that are advantageous for my companies," he stated. "My companies are suffering because I’m in the government." He added that recent attacks on Tesla dealerships and intimidation of Tesla customers in the U.S. and Europe have further compounded the challenges.

Despite these hurdles, Musk expressed optimism for America’s future. "There is potential for a great future so long as America remains the land of freedom and opportunity," he said. Musk defined freedom as protection from government overreach and opportunity as advancement based on merit. He praised both President Donald Trump and the DOGE team for their commitment to those principles.

Musk’s remarks highlighted a blend of policy advocacy, political involvement, and personal sacrifice, portraying him as a central figure in Trump’s reform agenda while navigating public scrutiny and business risk.
