Hamas Rejects U.S. Hostage Deal Claim

Hamas issued a strong denial on Saturday in response to a U.S. accusation that the group chose war over a deal to release hostages held in Gaza. The statement came following remarks made earlier in the week by U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes.

“The claim that 'Hamas chose war instead of releasing the hostages' is a distortion of the facts,” Hamas stated, pushing back against the narrative presented by U.S. officials.

The group accused both Israel and the United States of deliberately obstructing ceasefire negotiations, arguing that it is their actions that have prolonged the conflict. Hamas maintained that it has not turned away from talks and instead blamed Washington and Tel Aviv for blocking diplomatic efforts.

This latest exchange further intensifies tensions in an already volatile region, highlighting the stark differences in perspective between Hamas and U.S. leadership. While the Biden administration emphasizes the pursuit of peace and humanitarian progress, Hamas insists that external political pressures and interference are hindering real solutions on the ground.

As blame continues to be traded, the possibility of a breakthrough in ceasefire negotiations remains uncertain, with each side holding the other responsible for the ongoing crisis.
