FBI Launches Tesla Attack Task Force
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has formed a joint task force with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to investigate a string of attacks targeting Tesla Inc.'s vehicles and infrastructure. The announcement came from FBI Office of Public Affairs Assistant Director Ben Williamson on Monday, who confirmed the creation of the task force via social media.
“Can confirm: The FBI has launched a Task Force in conjunction with ATF to coordinate investigative activity and crack down on violent Tesla attacks. More to come,” Williamson stated in a tweet.
The move follows a series of escalating incidents, including the discovery of explosive devices at a Tesla showroom in Austin, Texas. In addition to the Austin event, multiple Tesla vehicles have been reportedly targeted in what appear to be coordinated acts of vandalism and violence.
While no official motive has been released by investigators, speculation has linked the attacks to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s increasing political visibility and support for United States President Donald Trump. Musk has publicly acknowledged receiving numerous death threats in connection with his role and political affiliations.
The establishment of the task force signals heightened concern at the federal level and reflects the seriousness with which the incidents are being treated. The FBI and ATF are expected to pool resources and intelligence to identify suspects and prevent further violence against the company’s assets.
The targeting of Tesla—a leading symbol of the electric vehicle movement and a high-profile tech firm—has alarmed both federal authorities and industry leaders. The incidents also raise broader questions about politically motivated violence against corporate entities and their executives.
No further details have been released about ongoing investigations, but federal officials have indicated that updates will be provided as the situation develops. In the meantime, Tesla is reportedly cooperating with law enforcement to ensure the safety of its employees, customers, and infrastructure.
